Weekly Memo (March 30-April 3)

Remote Learning Plan

(Click above to view Facebook post)

I don’t know about you, but this year’s spring break was not what I had expected! We were supposed to go to Silver Dollar City, hang out with friends and family, and spend 4 days at a family camp. We didn’t get to do any of that, but that’s ok. At least we got to have a parade— that’s a first!

Although it was a different spring break, I appreciated the time being home and s-l-o-w-i-n-g d-o-w-n. In the busyness of life, this was much needed for the Collier crew as we do our best to remain healthy and help slow down the potential spread of the COVID-19 virus.

I hope it was a good break for you as well.

As much as I wish we were going back to school today, we’ll still be getting back (sort-of), and I’m thankful for that. This week is both exciting for teachers, students, and parents, but it can also be a stressful one.

As I planned our lessons and work for this week, I tried to be really mindful of the excitement and stress that will come from doing something we’ve never actually done before— remote learning. Our class’s plan is below. It’s designed to be asynchronous (can be done at any time) but also interactive (we’ll have some Google Meet and Zoom times to visit as a class). The Google Classroom page will update each day with links, assignments, and directions, so if everything isn’t there right now, don’t panic.

If you run into any problems or if I can help, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me!

Later this week, I’ll be sending a survey link just to find out how it’s going at your home. Please look for that and send me your feedback.

I’m praying for your families. Hang in there.

Mr. C.
