Weekly Memo (April 20-24)

This week would have been the week that...

Just a few weeks ago, today, April 20, would have been a big day at CAC, and I’m pretty bummed about both.

  1. When school was first cancelled, it was for two weeks (through April 17), which meant we would have gone back to school today. I would love to just go back to school and get back to our normal routine! I miss seeing our kids every day, especially on Mondays when we would hear about everyone’s weekend.
  2. We would have kicked off our standardized testing this week. The general feeling about testing isn’t usually positive, but I enjoy it and some kids do, too. I’ve experienced testing in other schools, and I think CAC strikes the right balance between taking testing seriously and not putting all of our hope in tests. I would have loved to have had our class take the tests because they would have crushed it and they deserve to know that. Oh well. They’ll most likely get that chance next year!

I’m missing these two things, and as we near the end of the year, we’ll have more and more of the "this would have been the week that…" moments. Although we’ll get a little bummed, we’ll get through it and make the most of this time. We can do this!
